Cross-book arbitrage with both legs quoted in the same scan window — locked profit, ranked by edge.
The Scout’s Notebook
Arbitrage betting is backing every outcome of a market at different sportsbooks whose prices, taken together, guarantee a small profit no matter who wins. It exists because books disagree, and the disagreement occasionally overshoots the vig.
Real arbitrage is a market-timing exercise, not an income stream. Windows close in seconds, books limit accounts that only arb, and every quote on a card is verified contemporaneous — priced within the same refresh so the math is real, not a mirage stitched from stale numbers.
The math is risk-free but the execution is not. The two prices can move before you place the second leg, a book can void a bet on a palpable error, and accounts that only arbitrage get limited quickly — which is why Dynatyze treats arb as a market-timing tool, not guaranteed income.
Sportsbooks price independently and update at different speeds, so a soft book can lag a sharp one after news or a steam move. When their prices disagree by more than the combined vig, a cross-book arbitrage opens until the slower book catches up.
