The college slate plotted by share of tickets against share of the money — where the sharp side disagrees with the public, at a glance.
The Scout’s Notebook
The college sharp money map plots every priced college market by the share of betting slips on a side against the share of the money on that same side, so the games where a few large wagers lean against the crowd sit visibly apart from the games where money and tickets agree. It is a picture of disagreement, not a pick.
A split is worth a sentence only when the two shares disagree by at least 12 points. Below that the money and the tickets are telling the same story, and painting a two-point gap as a signal would teach a reader to see sharp money in noise.
Movement is a separate claim with a separate floor: it takes at least 2 stored snapshots of a line before this desk will say it moved. One reading is a price, not a move, and a market no book feed covered says so in words rather than drawing a flat line.
Side A is the away team, and on totals it is the over. The feed files a team name on the total row, so nothing here says which way the money went. No over/under split is shown.
College football is a weekly sport and the splits writer follows the card, so on most weekdays the last read sits outside a 24-hour window and the map is honestly empty. That is the correct answer for a Wednesday. The window control above the map reaches back to the last Saturday, and the sport row beside it moves to a league that is playing tonight.
It means a smaller number of larger wagers are on that side, which is what people usually mean by sharp money, but the feed cannot see who placed them. Read a gap as a disagreement worth investigating and pair it with whether the line itself moved against the ticket majority, which the map rings separately.
Because public betting splits are published only for slates that are actually on and the college slate is a Saturday. An empty midweek map is a measurement of a dark card, not a broken feed, and the desk says which it is rather than showing a blank panel.
The feed files a team name on the total row, so nothing here says which way the money went. No over/under split is shown. Guessing the direction from a team name would put an invented number on a money surface, so the row prints the market and withholds the attribution.
