Every player prop the books post, every line, every book — and our model beside each one.
Reading the books' player props…
The Scout’s Notebook
The NBA Prop Lab lines up every player prop the books post — the main line, every alternate line and every book's price — and sets our model's number beside each one, so you can see where the market and the model disagree before tip.
The fair price is the books' own price with the margin taken out. A book is never graded against a pool that includes itself, and a line priced by a single book has no fair at all — the row says so rather than guessing.
Open a player to read every rung of his ladder with every book, our chance at each line, the edge, his minutes range and the context the model applied: pace, rest, availability, the referee crew and the matchup, each with its effect and its sample.
One of two reasons, and the row's sentence says which. Either our model and the books' price with the margin removed are less than 3 points of probability apart at every line we can measure, so there is no edge to take. Or our model finds an edge of 3 points or more on the over at one line and on the under at another, and the main line does not settle it, so neither side is a call.
The model only prices a player it can name for certain, in a game that counts, with a minutes projection behind him. Everything else keeps its market and says why the model number is missing.
