Quarterback
Kyler Murray - Minnesota Vikings
Kyler is rostered in about 60% of leagues, so you might not see him out there, but if he’s available and you need a QB, you’ve got your guy. I’d be willing to overspend on him if your league uses FAAB to make sure you get him. The Vikings play the Lions this week, and the Lions have been giving up a ton of points to QB’s. Murray is a smash start this week.
Deshaun Watson - Cleveland Browns
Watson has been a serviceable option at quarterback this season. Watson is a high-risk, high-reward option. He can score over 20 points, but his floor is below 10 points. Against the Steelers on the road this week, Watson shouldn’t spoil your week, but he might not win it for you either.
Honorable Mentions
The Raiders have been signaling that a change at quarterback may be coming soon. Cousins has been a great fantasy football option, but winning games has been difficult lately for the Raiders, and Fernando Mendoza may be the solution. Consider adding Mendoza if you have been holding onto Cousins.
Running Back
Seth McGowan - Indianapolis Colts
With rumors of Jonathan Taylor being traded, Seth McGowan would be next in line to start at running back for the Indianapolis Colts. If McGowan’s role expands with a trade, he would be a low-end RB2/Flex option with high upside.
Jonah Coleman - Denver Broncos
If the Broncos running back is available, he should be a top target in your league this week. Head Coach Sean Payton mentioned the rookie played well; he looked explosive, and they needed to give him more touches. Expect Coleman’s production to increase and RJ Harvey and J.K. Dobbins roles to diminish.
Wide Receiver
Ryan Flournoy - Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys' third-string WR has scored over 10 points in each of the last 3 games. Flournoy has shown he can be a solid producer, and as the season continues, he’s seeing more targets and making the most of them. Flournoy is certainly worth a stash if you’ve got CeeDee Lamb or George Pickens. He is a rare WR handcuff.
Caleb Douglas - Miami Dolphins
Although the Dolphins are among the worst teams in the league, the yards and touchdowns count the same in fantasy, win or lose. Douglas started the season well before suffering an injury, and in his first game back, he scored twice on two catches. Douglas should see more targets as the season continues.
Honorable Mentions
This is the point in the year when rookies start to get comfortable in their roles. Once we get past the bye weeks, these rookies should start to excel. Makai Lemon, KC Concepcion, Malachi Fields; the list goes on and on. Another WR worth watching is Brian Thomas Jr. If he is traded, BTJ could see a huge increase in production.
Tight End
Hunter Henry - New England Patriots
The Patriots tight end has seen over 5 targets in 3 of the last 4 games. With the Miami Dolphins next on the schedule, the Patriots should spend quite a bit of time in the red zone. If Henry can find the end zone, he could be the guy who boosts your team to a win.
Honorable Mentions
Mason Taylor is an interesting name to watch in the weeks to come. With 6 targets in the last two weeks, if Taylor continues seeing this usage, he could be worth a stash if you’ve got bye weeks coming up.
