Player Prop, in plain words
A player prop is a bet on a single player's stat in one game: points, rebounds, passing yards, strikeouts, shots on goal. The book sets a line, often ending in .5, and prices the Over and the Under. You bet whether their number finishes above or below it.
The line is not the book's prediction of their exact number. It is the point where the book expects roughly balanced interest, shaded by its own read. The price matters as much as the line: an Over at -115 and an Under at -105 on the same 24.5 say the book leans Over without moving the number.
Props move on minutes and role more than anything. An injury to a teammate, a starter resting or a matchup against a slow team can change a projection by several points before the line catches up. Prop markets also carry more margin than main lines, so shopping across books matters more here than anywhere.

Points 24.5 at −115 / −105
- Over 24.5
- −115 (53.49%)
- Under 24.5
- −105 (51.22%)
- Fair Over
- 51.08%
- Hold
- 4.50%
- The two prices add to 104.71%.
- With the margin out, the market makes the Over 51.08% and the Under 48.92%.
- A book offering the Under at +104 or better is paying at least the fair price.
The book leans Over through the price, not the line. Read both numbers before you bet either side.
