Futures and win totals
Futures markets carry far more vig than a single game. We line up every book's season prices, measure the hold in each market and give every team a fair price.
Title, conference, division and award odds, plus season win totals, side by side across the books we read.
Add up every team's implied chance in a market and the excess over 100% is the book's cut. We print it for each market.
With the hold taken out, each team gets a fair chance and a fair price, so a long shot that is merely expensive is easy to tell from one that is good.
At +350 you are paying the full cut. Find +450 somewhere and the same team is priced better than fair.
Because a futures market has many sides and the book adds a margin to each. Adding up every team's implied chance often lands well above 100%, and the excess is the book's cut.
Remove the hold to get each team's fair chance, then shop for a price above fair. A long shot is only good value when someone pays more than its fair price.
NBA, NFL, MLB and college football have futures and season win totals desks.
