Hold is the margin a sportsbook builds into a market's prices: when the implied probabilities of all sides sum past 100%, the excess — the overround — is what the book expects to keep from balanced action.
Low-hold markets are the cheapest places to churn money through a book, which is why hold is the sort key of the entire low-hold board.
Standard two-sided markets at −110/−110 hold about 4.5%, sharp books price main lines closer to 2-3%, and derivative or same-game-parlay markets can hold 10% or more. Anything near zero is a low-hold pair worth knowing about.
